If you're stuck for a little gift to give to someone, you could make this matching box and tag kit. The box has four compartments in it and an acetate lid. I made 20 Christmas tags, square and round to go inside. They were fun to do and I used DSA, Gazelle Funtime III and my Gazelle to cut them out.
The box would be suitable for chocolates or shortbreads too.

Christmas Cards
I've been busy ignoring my housework and instead, being very indulgent and making cards. These are the last two I've made.

Christmas Pop-Up Gift Voucher Card
It's been a while since I've posted. Seems Christmas is fast taking over our social calendar and not leaving much time for the important stuff like making cards. Every year, with the best of intentions I promise to make and send hand made cards to one and all. As usual, life gets in the way and I end up chasing my tail right up to the death knock.
Anyways, I saw this card in a shop and decided to emulate it. Took an age, but once done worked really well. The pop-up centre was deceiving. I needed to use A3 cardstock and even then I had to re-size the pop-up.
The centre slides out of the pop-up and it holds either cash or a gift card.

Workshop - Sunday 6th December 2009
I've been pretty busy lately, so I've not had time to post any news.
On Friday the 23rd October, I hosted a Workshop at my home, for five (5) ladies to come and learn a bit more about their Pazzles Inspiration and BossKut Gazelle machines and software.
We had a blast and everyone got on famously. I couldn't have done without the help of Shell, who played Mum, providing constant refreshments, food and assistance. Glendon, my son, was also around to give assistance with some of the software techniques. Thanks to them, it was a huge success.
Penny and Deby flew down from Sydney to attend and they stayed with me from Wednesday to Saturday. Again, we all rubbed along really well and we all enjoyed our time together.
All in all, we are exhausted, but hopefully they went home with a little more knowledge about what wonderful machines and software they have purchased.
I am hosting another Workshop on Sunday 6th December 2009. If you would like to attend, please email me at: info@de-signsmadebyme.com.au.

Pen Tool for the BossKut Gazelle
Finally, I've got the Pen Tool for the BossKut Gazelle in my hot little hands.
Now you can centre text on a project that you want to cut out without having to fiddle around, moving your text so it appears to be in the centre.
It's suitable for pens with a similar diameter as the Sakura Pen ranges.

Play Date on Tuesday the 29th September

Shell and I had a Play Date on Monday while my DS baby sat her DS. They rode around on the motorbike, went yabbying, or should I say yaddying, as Shell's DH son calls it. Chased dogs around the property and generally had a great day in the sunshine. All the while, leaving us to do 'secret women's business'. Here are a couple of joint projects that we managed to get done amongst, all the talking, laughing and generally messing around.

Do I dare mention Christmas?
I obviously don't have enough to think about as my mind is turning towards Christmas. Every year, I promise myself that I'll do something quirky for my table settings/gifts etc. Every year, I'm the one running around at the last minute, completely disorganized. I thought I may fill these with lollies or bon-bon type treats. I suppose you could also decorate them in different papers and hang them from the Christmas Tree too!

Another Hybrid
In preparation for the Picture to Page Scrapbooking Show on the 19th and 20th September at the Whitehorse Club, I made this card to show how you can use a digital scrapbooking program in conjunction with your cutter to produce some interesting effects.
The patterned heart, and the word 'holiday's' are digital images that were printed and cut out using my Gazelle. I did an outline of the heart using my cutter software, mirrored it and then welded it together to make my card template. I printed out the word 'happy' and used some Kindy Glitz to highlight some of the lines on the hearts. To finish off, I embellished with a flower, a button and three pink crystals.

Fathers Day 2009
What does a daughter give her Dad for Fathers Day, when he has one of everything and occasionally two of everything? I decided to make him a Hybrid Project.
The photo was taken on my Wedding Day. I was putting a rose into his lapel. I'm sure he doesn't even remember, but I thought the photo was apt as we are looking at each.I did my background in DSA and I have to say I had a blast. I'm only learning this great program, but I feel I've made some progress compared to my first project.
I mounted the background onto a masonite clipboard, re-sprayed the clip to give it an olde world look and then I started to embellish. Men are so hard to embellish for. No flowers, flourishes etc. I cut the tags and words out on my die-cutter using chipboard and vinyl. I placed a piece of acetate over part of the project to give the look of glass.
After I took the photo, I decided to add a dried rose, just to lift it a bit more.
All in all, I'm pleased! I hope he will be too!

Hybrid Card Making
Of late, there's been a bit of hype of a new technique called 'Hybrid Scrapping' or 'Hybrid Card Making'. It's a technique that uses digital images as well as hand crafted embellishments on projects. There are various software packages available, some of them are difficult to use, whilst others are very user friendly. I personally have been using Digital Scrapbook Artist. I'm only a beginner, but I've found this software pretty easy to use and they have some great tutorials.
I used DSA and my Gazelle/Pazzles to produce this card. The picture was by DSA, I then imported the image into my cutter software and added my sentiment inside and my name on the back and then used my Gazelle/Pazzles Inspiration to cut the whole thing out.
Folks, if you're already pressed for time, this is something you should not even begin to get involved with. My brain is racing at the possibilities.

New cards

Hi again,
I've been pretty busy over the last couple of weeks. We have the building in doing a few alterations to the house. The whole house looks like a wreck. Pretty normal in other words.
Here's some bits and pieces I've made recently.
The letter 'H' tag is only about 1" x 1", so you can see how beautifully the Gazelle has cut it out. I used a pen in the Gazelle to write 'Helen'. I made this for a card swap. I hope the person that receives it, likes it.

I'm a celebrity!
Well not really, however on Monday 24th August, a radio station was asking 'When have you lost and found jewellery?'. I had to ring and tell them about me finding my earring at Kinglake that I lost 15 years ago. This is after our house burnt to the ground and then what was left was bulldozed. My earring was poking out of the ground and it was like I was guided to it. I knew what it was before I even picked it up. I still have the pair.
Anyways, I got through and told my story.
Today, Friday, the phone rang and it was the radio station telling me to keep my phone with me because at 9.00am they select a weekly caller and give them $400.
Well my phone rang at 9.00am and I had been selected.
What a wonderful way to start the weekend.
Cheers

Father-in-Laws 80th Card

Hi,
It's me again. I'm learning all the time about different techniques and finishes. I made this card for my FIL as he is a mechanic and loves to fiddle and twiddle. You probably can't see it in the photo, but the background has a slight 3d effect.
For those that miss it, the cogs say 80th. Mmmmmm, I think this will be a bit deep for most to see LOL!
Lemon Butter

My 15yo DS loves homemade Lemon Butter. I made some on the weekend and decided to make my own tag using the Print and Cut technique. I made about 12 in next to no time.

Something Different

I've fallen in love with a new type of card. Each card comes with it's own card display which can be printed in any colour or design to match the card. The cards can be different shapes and sizes and the sentiment can be either handwritten or printed on the back. The cards fit into standard envelopes or you can also make your own envelopr to suit.
